Project-Nerd Publishing Set to Mystify Audiences with Xucau

Project-Nerd Publishing Set to Mystify Audiences with Xucau

March 22, 2017 – Denver, CO — Project-Nerd Publishing announced a new graphic novel today that explores the legend and magic of Xucau.

Often thought to be Ossetian legend, the deity Xucau has long existed inhabiting the bodies of the world’s most powerful women. Choosing a new host every generation, Xucau does not control her host but instead gives her great abilities in which the host must decide to try and live a normal life with, use them for evil, or face off against evil deities resurrected in the same capacity. Each host learns to deal with this great power in her own way, including the current host Samantha.

Xucau is set to debut as a 48-page graphic novel written and created by Project-Nerd Publishing founder Iggy Michniacki. Artist J.C. Grande (The Escort, Johnny Monster, Necessary Evil) and colorist Jeremy Kahn (Hell on My Couch) join Michniacki for the first chapter titled, New Beginnings.

“It’s not only important that each of our titles be entertaining, but they need to also be vastly different from one another,” noted Michniacki. “Xucau is very different from the rest of our works, and we think it’s something people will find compelling and fun.”

Xucau will launch late spring with a public crowdfunding campaign set to offer the tale in both physical and digital formats along with a variety of other perks. The title will join the already diverse slate of content Project-Nerd Publishing has released across 2017, including three brand new comic series.

Project-Nerd Publishing Takes a New Approach to the Superhero Genre

Project-Nerd Publishing Takes a New Approach to the Superhero Genre

December 14, 2016 – Denver, Colorado — Project-Nerd Publishing is set to release a series of one-shots through 2017 and 2018 focusing on a specific set of heroes.

Debuting in February 2017 with a one-shot titled Blaze, the series of comics follows a group of characters in Capital City that are as complex as they are powerful. Blaze is joined by fellow superheroes Lady Fox and Shock, who are a crime-fighting couple, in his every day battle to take on villains as well as his mental illness.

Blaze is written by Project-Nerd Publishing founder, Iggy Michniacki, and will feature the art of newcomer Mario Alberto Diaz Guerra. The issue will focus heavily on Blaze’s mental well-being, but will do so in a way that it doesn’t detract from an entertaining and complete story.

“I want to take a look at superheroes as we know them and introduce real issues that people deal with today,” noted Michniacki. “Depression is something millions of people suffer with and are often too quiet about because it still can be considered a taboo topic.”

Depression is a common but serious mood disorder. More than 3 million people are diagnosed with it each year and it is often not discussed openly because of the stigmas it still carries.

Depending on the success of the Blaze one-shot, Lady Fox and Shock are expected to get their own one-shot later this year focusing on a variety of other issues, including racism. The creative team for that one-shot has not yet been determined.

“This isn’t your All-American tale with no darkness or issues,” Michniacki added. “I want this universe to focus on reality. If superheroes were real, it’s highly likely that these heroes would deal with matters such as depression, racism, and sexism among many other ‘isms’ we still need to address in society.”

Blaze joins a diverse slate of content set to debut in 2017 from Project-Nerd Publishing, helping refocus and relaunch the brands titles in goals in year two. Although Blaze will be available in early 2017, it is expected to be reprinted for later shows due to the important nature of the content.

Esme Ford Returns in New Series ‘The Escort’

Esme Ford Returns in New Series 'The Escort'

November 28, 2016 – Denver, CO — After the smashing success of Barrens: Chapter One, Project-Nerd Publishing will bring back Esme Ford in the new series, The Escort.

Audiences have been waiting for the follow up to Barrens, Project-Nerd Publishing’s first title to go to second print on two different covers, but the project came to a halt after Chapter One. With the creative team moving on to other projects, it left the door open for Esme Ford to return in a different capacity.

Set in the not too distant future, The Escort follows Esme Ford as she proves to be the best guide through the barrens as she transports goods and people between the few remaining fortified cities left in the world. Ford will open up a brand new mission with the debut issue of The Escort in January 2017.

The Escort is written by Esme Ford creator and Project-Nerd Publishing Founder, Iggy Michniacki, and will feature the pencils and inks of J.C. Grande (Johnny Monster, Necessary Evil) and colors from Esteban Salinas (Deviant Apple Studios). Erin Lei will return as Esme Ford for a cosplay cover variant of the first issue with Salinas also creating the series’ cover art.

Set to debut early next year, The Escort joins a revamped lineup for Project-Nerd Publishing that will release quarterly with specials debuting at the company’s convention stops across the country.

'Gunface: The Fall of Tommy Gunn' Joins Project-Nerd Publishing’s 2017 Slate

October 26, 2016 – Denver, CO — Project-Nerd Publishing is pleased to announce the highly anticipated new mini-series from acclaimed writer, Tim Hunger, and visionary artist, Paul Jason Young, Gunface: The Fall of Tommy Gunn.

Gunface: The Fall of Tommy Gunn is the legendary journey of a boy born to the streets, chosen by families of royalty and power to serve, but chained by destiny to punish them. Against the neon back drop of “Clip City” and through exchanged rounds of custom cannons those who deserve…will receive.

“When you combine the amazing artwork of Paul and the story Tim has created, you get a comic series we just had to bring to audiences here in the states,” noted Iggy Michniacki, Project-Nerd Publishing Founder & CEO. “This series is just all around amazing. What these two have done is nothing short of amazing, and it won’t take long for comic fans to figure that out.”

“The opportunity to introduce Gunface to the world is a great honor and truly humbling,” added Hunger. “I have shared 10 years with this character. Some good…some not so good, but always side by side. I am sure America will adopt him for their own and I couldn’t be happier that is where his journey will begin.”

Gunface: The Fall of Tommy Gunn is Hunger and Young’s first project with Project-Nerd Publishing. COO and Talent Scout Galo Gutierrez is responsible for adding it to a diverse slate of new content set to debut in early 2017 from Project-Nerd Publishing. The official release date will be announced prior to the end of the year, with pre-orders and retail orders starting in December.

‘Billie’ Rides onto Kickstarter

'Billie' Rides onto Kickstarter

Billie, Our newest graphic novel is now on Kickstarter.

The graphic novel follows Billie, a young woman who saw her parents murdered right in front of her eyes outside Dodge City as a child. Her neighbor, Victor, took her in and taught her how to stand on her own. Now she’s joined by her new friends Jayne and Gordon taking on the Drask Gang down in the New Mexico border towns.

Billie is a character that has been growing on paper for more than five years. She’s a character that sets the record straight and shows not all cowboys were kickass white men. Billie, Jayne, and Gordon all break the stereotype of what you see in comics, while Drask and his team will define a new era of western gangs.

The 60-page story is a complete arc that will feature Billie’s arrival in Aspen, New Mexico and kickoff the new war that will wage between her and Drask. It’s a story that’s been reviewed and praised by those that provided early critique, as well as a world that still has plenty to offer in follow up stories.
